Final Mother's Day card

Yes, I realize Mother's day was Sunday. I had this made on time just did not post it until now. And actually as I was uploading the card I realized there are 3 bees and my Mom has 3 girls! I planned it that way, of course! :)
I stamped the bees of a scrap of cream cardstock with Onyx Versafine ink and colored them withy my pencil crayons. I then stamped them again on another scrap and cut it out to ask like a mask when I stamped the butterflies. I stamped the butterflies diagonally across the page using a Ranger Big and Juicy pad (Happy Birthday). I matted the image twice using my square smooth and scalloped Nestabilities. I drew a wiggly black line around the bee image and added dots of Lemon Liquid Pearls in 2 corners. I added the ribbon and jewel as well as the saying stamped in the same Big and Juicy ink pad as the butterflies. Finally, I used some Stardust Stickles on the bee wings. Thanks for looking! I've been madly working on bee cards for a class I am teaching in June. I hope to have them done today if all goes well. I will post one when all the samples are finished.
On another note the store has received 2 new order this week a paper/cardstock order including more glossy cardstock and Stardream text weight paper as well as Art Impressions stamps with more watercolor stamps, penguins and other animals.
Recipe:
Stamps: Stampendous Bee Trio & Simply the Best, Penny Black Butterflies
Inks: Versafine Onyx black, Ranger Big and Juicy Happy Birthday
Ribbon A Muse, Jewel Kaisercraft, Ranger Lemon Liquid Pearls

New Do!

I got a new haircut and color with a new stylist on Friday. I really love it! So I thought I'd send her a thank you card.
I started out by stamping the girl (who kind of has the same hair as me now) and embossing her with Range detail black embossing powder on watercolor paper. I colored her with my Tombow markers. Her hair was supposed to be blonder but my Tombow blender had some red ink left in it so her hair went red so I had to darken it up! I stamped her again on a scrap of designer paper and cut out her bag and glued it on top of the original bag on the watercolor paper.
I used my new Large Scallop Octogon Nestabilities and cut out a blue and brown shape (same size I just cut the brown one in the middle). I stamped the special thanks message on a scrap of Bazzill cardstock and scored the "banner" with my Scor-It board to make it pop up (an idea I originally saw on the A Muse stamp blog). I added some Kaiser Blue flowers and some white dots with my Ranger white gel pen and voila! done! Thanks for looking!
Recipe:
Stamp: girl Stampendous, special thanks Hero Arts
Paper: brown dots A Muse, other cardstock Bazzill, Watercolor paper
Embellishments: Kaiser flowers, Ranger white gel pen, Ranger detail black embossing powder
Ink: Ranger Big and Bossy, Ranger Sailboat blue

Belated Easter Card

I should have posted this yesterday but when I realized I had not taken a photo it was quite dark so did not think the photo would turn out very well.
The image is by Penny Black, imagine that!, which was stamped with Smokey Grey Versafine ink. I colored the image with my Towmbow markers on watercolor paper. I used my classic scallop circle Nestabilities then the NEW inverted scallop Nestabilities for the mat. I LOVE the look. The inverted scallop sets are the first ones I have bought out of the newest release and I don't regret it. The background orange paper was stamped with a clear Stampendous set called Circle Talk Spots with Ranger's Peach Bellini dye ink. The background designer paper is by Fancy Pants. I cut the plain blue circle with my classic circle Nestabilities and embossed it with my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder. The ribbon is from a roll I've had kicking around for years.
All supplies can be purchased from Crafty Capers (physical store or on-line). Thanks for looking!

March Make and Take

We're doing this card in the Crafty Capers March Make and Take Mar 13 & 14. This is a free class and there are still some spaces contact Crafty Capers if you want to register.
I'm not going to go into too much detail with this card since it is a class card but it is a "tri fold" card using a Hero Arts clear set and colored with watercolor pencil crayons. The window was cut out with square Nestabilities and the green frame was done with the Nestabilities as well.
Thanks for stopping by!

February Make and Take

I promised the February make and takers a romantic card since it is being held Feb 14. This design just came to me while I was thinking about this blog and what she had done with a new Spellbinders design.
The scalloped oval was cut with the Small Scalloped oval set while the die was still attached to the paper I stenciled it then stamped my message. The heart was made with 2 pieces of Grand Illumination border by Spellbinders. The embossed background is Textile Texture by Provo Craft.
There are still spaces in the free Make and Take Fri Feb 13 6:30 pm, Sat Feb 14 10:30 am & 1:00 pm. Call Crafty Capers at 250-390-1107 to register. Thanks for looking!

Bloom

This card sketch came from a site I found last night called "Card Sketch a Day" I used sketch 136 as my inspiration. I'd actually had a bunch of stamped circles from Hero Arts "Big Circles" clear set done and I'd been playing with them off and on since before Christmas. This sketch gave me the inspiration to finish it up.

I stamped the circles with Ranger Meadow dye ink and cut them out with my Spellbinders circle Nestabilities. I also cut 2 circles of green Co-ordinations cardstock. I stamped Inkadinkado's Bloom saying on a scrap of yellow cardstock. I attached everything and embellished with Kaiser Crafts Large Rhinestone flowers in mint and used Rangers Distress Stickles in Antique Linen in the centres. I realize now I should have taken better pictures but at least you get the idea.

Thanks for looking.

Dalmatian wonder

Here is another one of my Christmas cards. I had to buy him/her when I saw the stamp. The stamp is made by Penny Black. I stamped it with Onyx Versafine and colored with Laurentian pencil crayons. I cut the image out with a circle Nestability and cut a slightly larger red scallop. I cut a message strip with red cardstock using my Spellbinders tag trio dies (largest one). The Christmas joy saying is by Impression Obsession. This was also stamped with Versafine Onyx. I thought the main card looked a little naked so I ran the main cardstock with my Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder. I finished the card by adding Glossy Accents (glossy clear drying glue) to the tree ornaments. I added Stickles to the dog collar, tag and the O's in the Christmas joy saying. I am pleased to say I have completed all my cards and hopefully, tonight I will get them all written up and tomorrow mailed!! I am a machine!

Another Bird Card

I'd almost forgotten penguins are birds so here is another bird card. All the penguins are from a clear set by Art Impressions. I love these penguins! I started out my stamping the candy cane penguin then cut him out with a circle Nestability and my Cuttlebug. I cut a matching scallop circle out of a scrap of Fancy Pants cardstock. I colored the candy cane and hat with my Tombow (water based) markers. I made my background by stamping other penguins from the set on a piece of Bazzill Bling (shimmery) cardstock and colored all the winter attire red. I used a small Stampendous tag that I colored by rubbing with Ranger Cranberry die ink then stamped a Stampendous Happy Holidays saying in black.

Nothing too fancy but I am getting under the gun to get my cards done! Enjoy.

Mega Merry

I'm finally getting down to making my Christmas cards and thought I would play with Stampendous' Mega Merry Clear set for the first time. I also just bought Spellbinder's Illumination Borderabilities die so wanted to play.

I stamped and embossed with Crafty Capers Pixie Dust embossing powder (clear w/glitter) the Merry. I then colored the letters with a Tombow marker. I then realized the Merry would not fit on the 5x5 card I had hoped to use!! So my friend, Lorri suggested cutting out the letters and pop dotting them (thanks Lorri!). I had taken a green square of Co-ordinations cardstock and cut a Illumination border out of it and was going to use that but liked the look of the "left over" pieces so used that as a mat instead. I embossed the "and bright" in Ivory Embossing powder. Lorri and I thought the card needed something so Lorri suggested we add Stampendous silver Geoshapes stickers around the border and that was perfect! Hope you enjoy.

When Life gives you Limes...

Crafty Capers got a big order from Impression Obsession stamps this week and the minute I saw the limes stamp I had to have it! First off I stamped the limes on a piece of acetate with black Memories dye ink and heat set it. I flipped the acetate over so the ink was facing down then I took my clear drying Art Institute glue with a metal tip on it and filled in each section. I worked in color sections ie I "glued" the areas I wanted light green. Once I had the glue on I would pour 1 color of glitter on at a time. I did this until all the areas were filled with glitter. I used microfine Glitter Ritz colors: kiwi, moss green, fire red and warm highlight. I set this aside to dry. On another piece of actetate I stamped the Impression Obsession stamp "when life gives" with black Memories ink and heat set. I took a 12x12 piece of Kiwi Switch cardstock by Worldwin papers and cut a 6x6" square out of 1 corner. I used my Scor-It board and basically in a + sign across the paper (one score to make the card then another score to flip the extra piece inside the card (to hide my acetate when it is inserted). I then took a Nestability square and ran it through my cuttlebug to create a window on the front of the card and on the inside piece. I did these windows at the same time so they would match up. I actually had to use my craft knife to finish off the inside square since the Nestability did not quite cut all the way through the second piece of cardstock.

I mounted my 2 pieces of acetate inside the front window and then put the inside piece over the back "workings" of my card to hide the acetate edges. I finished off the card with Ranger Lettuce Dimensional Pearls on the acetate to look like brads. Unfortunately, Crafty Capers is already sold out of the lime saying and the Lettuce Dimensional Pearls. I will be reordering soon.

Beach Day!

No, I didn't get a beach day but I did get to play with a beach scene (sort of the same). For those who don't know where Lantzville is we are right on the ocean. In fact, if I open the back door of the shop I have an ocean view. Soooo, back to the card. First off, I brayered a piece of white glossy cardstock with a Ranger Big and Juicy dye ink pad (vivid primary) and let dry. I then took Sook Wang tape and laid it over the brayered piece. I left the protective backing on. Using a scallop Nestability I cut out a scallop circle in the center of the glossy cardstock. I peeled the backing off the tape then poured Warm Highlight clear glitter over the exposed tape. Pressed down and tapped off extra.
On watercolor paper I stamped the Beach Day with Ranger Archival black ink then colored the scene with Tombow markers. I pop dotted the beach scene inside the scallop window then mounted the entire thing on a piece of Awesome Aqua ColorMates cardstock. I though the front looked a bit naked so I took a black Sharpie and drew lines around the edges to frame everything. If you are inclined to make this card all supplies can be purchased at Crafty Capers.
