Lovin' T!m's dies

Crafty Capers has started bringing in some of Tim Holt's Sizzix dies and I must say I am loving them! They cut through the thickest cardstock with no trouble using my Cuttlebug. This ornament is from the curved ornaments set. I'm so glad I bought it and can't wait to get some more!

This card is one I cased from a magazine my friend Sharron had. She brought so many magazines into the store for my viewing pleasure I honestly don't remember which one it came from - sorry!

Anyway, pretty simple design and used up quite a bit of my scrap silver/grey cardstock which is always a plus!

NEW Cuttlebug!

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week things have been a little hectic around the store. The 8th annual garage sale has come and gone. I hope everyone is enjoying their new treasures!

Speaking of treasures - Provocraft has finally released their new Cuttlebug folders! We received our first order last Monday and have already had to reorder - twice! Our first reorder should arrive today or tomorrow. As always, the Cuttlebug 4x6 embossing folders are $6.50 and the 5x7 folders are $7.98.

We have also started stocking embossing folders that work in the Cuttlebug by a UK company called Crafts Too. The butterfly folder is proving to be the "hot" one to buy!

We also have sponge daubers back in stock. For those desperately in need of them.

Playing with Color

I was playing with different Cuttlebug technques for an upcoming class and this one went in another direction! :) I started by using the Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug folder then I colored the embossed areas with my General Chalk Pencil crayons. I bought these years ago and have not used them in ages I rememebered why a few minutes into coloring the embossed areas! They smear everywhere!!! Very annoying.

I then stamped a butterfly from the Hero Arts set Antique Engravings with my Versafine ink on watercolor paper. I colored this image with my MUCH easier to use Tombow markers. I love how it turned out! I cut it out then used pop dots to mount it to the embossed panel.

I stamped the Hero Arts Thinking of You from the Leaf Prints clear set with Memento ink and mounted it on white vellum.

Playin with Glitter

This is not the best photo but hopefully you can find some inspiration anyways. First off, guess what this gold foil is?? The packaging from a Caramilk chocolate bar!! I say bring on the candy!!

I attached the foil wrapper to a scrap of cardstock and ran it through my Cuttlebug with the Floral Fantasy folder then, and this is the cool part, I used my Art Institute Dries clear glue and filled in some of the recessed areas and added glitter. I worked from the darkest color in this case Glitter Ritz Merlot then worked to the lighter colors (Glitter Ritz Grasshopper & Yellow). It turned out very cool!! The Grasshopper color does not photograph well, unfortunately but hopefully, you can see a little better in the close up shot. The rest of the card is pretty simple. The saying is by Stampendous out of a Perfectly Clear summer set which was stamped with Brillance Crimson Copper ink. The corners are cut out with a Sizzix die. The ribbon is from my stash I just found that got hidden away during the shop move in July! Thanks for looking!

Asian Lanterns

One final stencil card. This card looks like it was quite a bit of work, and it was, but I would make another one of these. I was not that bad. I have made cards that I would NOT make again because they were too much work. :)

I started off with a Dreamweaver stencil (lanterns) and traced it onto Dreamweaver Double sided adhesive sheets. This project was excellent for using up some of my bitsy scraps of double sided adhesive. I cut out each lantern and peeled off one side of the backing and attached the lanterns to a scrap of blue cardstock. Then I used my craft knife and cut out pieces of the lanterns leaving the sticky adhesive exposed. I had to remove pieces by color for example I cut out and exposed all the areas I wanted black once I was satisfied I sprinkled Glitter Ritz glitter onto the exposed areas. Then I moved onto the next color and so on. It was fairly easy because you will notice most cuts are straight. Once all areas were covered in glitter. I used my Tombow glue pen and added "hangers" for the lanterns using Gunmetal Glitter Ritz. I let the glue dry then used my Ranger Inkessentials white gel pen to draw the cords. To finish off the piece I stamped 2 images from Kompac "Little Bird" stamp set with Versafine Onyx black ink. I matted the piece twice and mounted it onto a main card I had embossed with Leafy Branch Cuttlebug folder.

February Make and Take

I promised the February make and takers a romantic card since it is being held Feb 14. This design just came to me while I was thinking about this blog and what she had done with a new Spellbinders design.

The scalloped oval was cut with the Small Scalloped oval set while the die was still attached to the paper I stenciled it then stamped my message. The heart was made with 2 pieces of Grand Illumination border by Spellbinders. The embossed background is Textile Texture by Provo Craft.

World Card Day Lolly's card

I've had a request to post the cards the store did for World Card day on Saturday.

This is Lolly's card. It was done with the "sledding" Cuttlebug folder on blue cardstock. The snowflake punch is by Punch Bunch. I think the rest is pretty self explanitory. This card is very easy to make but looks impressive. A perfect card to mass produce for your Christmas cards. All supplies are available at Crafty Capers. Thanks Lolly for letting me post this!

Partridge

I'm on a Christmas card "kick" at the moment. Here is a Dreamweaver stencil I've had for a few years now. I thought I pull it out and play again. I used gold embossing paste on the stencil and when it was dry I used Brillance Pearlescent Ivy on the leaves. I then used my Glue Palette to glue the pear and partridge. I heated the glue ink on the image until it was sticky then I added gold leafing. I finished off the card with a Penny Black word stamp and edged the oval with Distress ink Tea Dye ink. The back ground is done with the new Leafy Branch Cuttlebug folder.
