A little sympathy

Hi All! Hope everyone had a good weekend I spent the weekend working on my income taxes. I HATE doing taxes however I bucked up and now they are done. I should treat myself to a trip to the spa or some such!
I realized last week I have no sympathy cards on hand and I really think they are the type of card that you should have on hand since usually you need the cards in a hurry and often you are not thinking clearly when you need to get one sent out. :(
I'm happy with how this card turned and it was quick! I began by stamping my sentiment with Deep Lagoon Versafine ink on 110lb white cardstock. I realized AFTER stamping it would have been smarter to do my other steps before stamping the sentiment. I then cut out a Spellbinder labels 8 shape to mask over my sentiment here is where I realized that it was very difficult to lay my mask over my saying leaving a even border around it. So take my advice cut your mask, sponge around it then stamp your sentiment! I was lucky and my guessing worked out pretty good (whew!) After my mask wask was in place I used my Stylus wand, a foam tip and Adirondack Stonewashed (dye) ink to apply ink around the outside of my labels shape. I kept the blue color darker around the edges and lighter farther away from the saying. I kept the mask in the place and used a cling flower stamp and Memento Canteloupe and Tangello inks and stamped randonly over my card and over top of the mask. I removed the mask and the area around my sentiment was nice and white. I added some twine around the top of the card and done!
Just wanted to say something about the sentiment on this card. It is from a clear sympathy set from Impression Obsession and I have been saying for years in my opinion it is the BEST sympathy set on the market. Lots of really great, but not too mushy, sympathy sentiments. Crafty Capers has it back in stock if you are looking for such a thing.
Looks like the store will be hopping this week with LOTS of new products coming in. Watch this space for updates!
Also, don't forget Crafty's 9th annual garage sale is coming up quickly! The date is Thursday May 24 (and May begins tomorrow!!!!!) 5:30 - 8:00. If you are interested in putting items in the garage sale please contact the store for details.
Stamps used on this card: Impression Obession clear sympathy set & Hero Arts (cling) Small Solid Flower

Little Sheep

This sheep idea is certainly not new but most people seem to make them using punches since I traded in most of my punches years ago for Spellbinder dies I thought I would try my hand at making animals using dies. This sheep was made using the sets large scalloped circle, large smooth circle, large smooth oval and the tiniest picot circle all by Spellbinder. I assembled him as shown then added some white Fun Flock by Stampendous plus some googly eyes from the Dollar Store (sorry should have warned my friends since it is VERY rare for me to shop in a dollar store LOL). The background for the sheep is a stamp by Impression Obession called Summer Field and was drawn by Leigh Hannan (love her illustrations!). Thanks to Leslie S for finishing the coloring of this stamp for me when I got gabbing on the phone!
Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderful Mom

Whipped up this card yesterday using my new Hero Arts/Sizzix Stamp and Embossing set called Floral Wreath. Love how it turned out and to be a Mothers Day card so even better since I have a few I have to get made in the next couple of weeks.
I started by stamping the wreath stamp in Seafoam White embossing powder on white cardstock then I used my Stylus handles and sponge tips (I am using these for more than Stampscapes scenes now) and swirled on Hero Arts Soft Blossom ink, Adirondack Pink Sherbet and Raspberry inks over the stamped image. The embossed image resisted the ink so it stayed nice and white. I then cut out the image using a Spellbinder Labels 18 and Classic Oval die. I then took the embossing folder from the Wreath set and embossed the image. Love how it turned out! So beautiful!
I then found a scrap of white cardstock and stamped a Flourishes sentiment in Hero Arts Soft Blossom ink all over the scrap (the sentiment is quite small). I cut a frilly border using my Spellbinder set Fleur di Lis Accents. I punched some Martha Stewart butterflies and added some Hero Arts pearls to finish off the card.
Here is hoping you all have a great weekend.

Yesterday, was a friend's birthday and she loves purple and glittery things so out came the Glitter Ritz glitter!
Chevrons are all the rage right now so I decided to make a chevron pattern with glitter. I used Lavender and Champagne glitters and some Be Creative double sided tape. I finished the edges of the chevron piece with some lavender ribbon. I embossed my main cardstock with Craft Concepts embossing folder hexagon illusion. I made a glittery butterfly (shape by Spellbinder) with more Be Creative tape, yellow, black and lavender Glitter Ritz. I added some Hero Arts pearls and a Hero Arts sentiment stamped with Memento Cantalope ink.
Happy Birthday Leslie S!
Hope everyone is having a great week.

Mr. and Mrs.

Another card for the wedding display today. I love the white on white with a touch of blue.
I stamped the sentiments (Just Rite) on a teeny tiny scrap of white cardstock (glad I kept that!) then cut out a mat from the Spellbinder set Twisted Metal Tags and Accents then added another mat with my Spellbinder Fleur di lis squares. I cut out a swirl with my Sizzix die Vine with Leaves then smooshed my Perfect Medium ink pad all over it. I then dusted Pearl Perfect Pearl powder all over the wet ink to add some shimmer to the swirl. I did the same thing with 2 white paper flowers by Hero Arts. I added some Hero Arts rhinestones. I embossed the main cardstock with the Craft Concepts embossing folder.
Hope this card provides some inspiration!

Wedding wishes

It is getting time for wedding season so I am working on a wedding/anniversary display for the store. Here is one of the cards I have made for the display.
I began by cutting out 3 hearts with my Sizzix heart die out of Stardream white cardstock. I used a Sizzix Ink Its plate to give the cardstock a letter press type look. I used some BoBunny Country Garden paper to put behind the hearts and I stamped a Penny Black sentiment on anothe scrap of Country Garden scrap with Adirondack Lettuce dye ink. I mounted everything on a white card and voila done!
Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Embossing and Rosettes

I have had the Tim Holtz rosette die for a few months now and decided to put some rosettes on a card. I made 3 rosettes (different sizes) and attached them to a piece of acetate that I ran through my Cuttlebug with a M-Bossibility folder (sorry can't remember the name off the top of my head). I used a Hero Arts sentiment and attached it to the biggest rosette and used some Hero Arts pearls to finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Monday Challenge!

Lesley over at the blog Always Playing with Paper has a Christmas challenge each week and this week I managed to get a card made.
I used a In the Making stamp set to make this card. I stamped the doves on watercolor cardstock with Seafoam White embossing powder. I then sprayed the cardstock with water then I used my Ranger Stonewash reinker and a waterbrush to apply reinker around each dove because the cardstock was wet the reinker flowed around on the paper creating a pretty neat background. I did the same thing with the word Peace. I had cut out the Peace word once the cardstock had dried. I matted the dove square with a piece of glossy cardstock cut out with Spellbinder Fleur di Lis squares. I used 3 strips of Be Creative tape and Glitter Ritz Gunmetal to add an interesting background.
Thanks Lesley for the challenge 2 Christmas cards done about 60 more to go! LOL

Stencils

I thought I would pull out my Dreamweaver stencils last week and have a play with them since it has been a while. I ended up using a few stamps as well.
I began this card by sponging ink through the "fern" stencil I used the colors Memento Bamboo leaves, Versamagic Key Lime and Brillance Pearlescent thyme once I was happy with the color I used a piece of ripped from the recycling bin as a mask so I could stamp my Penny Black script stamp with my Hero Arts Soft Sand ink in the areas not covered by the stencil.
I finished off the card by stamping a Just Rite (cling) frame and sentiment stamp with the Brillance Pearlescent thyme ink then cut it out with my new Spellbinder Labels 18 die. I added some Hero Arts pearls to the card to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by.

kit Cat

I don't normally post many items of a personal nature however I know many people who read this blog know I have a cat named Cat. kit Cat went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday after being diagnosed with liver cancer. She lost her appetite about a week ago and after quite a few trips to the vet for blood work and even a kitty ultrasound we got the diagnosis we had been dreading - cancer. :( We spent the afternoon sitting in the sun and talking all about the tricks she played on us over the past couple of years.
Cat is now with her first human "mom" who passed away 2 and a half years ago and I warned her to be careful of any dalmatians she might encounter.
RIP my little kitty. You will be missed. :(
Protecting us from "bed monsters"!

Working on her tan!

Dancing Tulips

I love how this card turned out very simple but classy! I even managed to get rid of a few scraps as well - bonus!
I stamped a sentiment from Penny Black using my Versafine Onyx Black ink then cut out Memory Box's Dancing tulips die out of Be Creative tape then I peeled the backing off the tape and added Glitter Ritz Pink and Kiwi Microfine Glitter to the exposed tape. I then cut out a couple of butterflies from the Butterfly Delight Memory Box die and added Pink Glitter Ritz to them as well.
I finished off the card with a strip of pattern paper and a slightly bigger strip of Bazzill cardstock. Thanks to Sharron for the loan of the dies. :)

One final flock card

One final Fun Flock card for you to finish off the week. I decided to make my own flocked background paper for this card. I began by stamping my Hero Arts Large Fabric background with Versafine Onyx Black ink then I poured Stampendous Stamp N Bond embossing powder over the image. When you heat this embossing powder it turns sticky I applied Black Fun flock over the entire background for an elegant background paper.
I stamped my gal (from the Penny Black Hello Gorgeous clear set) and colored her with my Prisma pencils. I added Chili Pepper Red Fun Flock to her collar and purse. I finished the card by using a Peel Off sticker for my sentiment, some ribbon and pearls.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Guest Designer and Fun Flock

I thought I would feature my friend, Linda's super cute Fun Flock creation. The image is a House Mouse stamp (these are on order and will be in the shop shortly) and I think these little mice are too darn cute!
Linda stamped the image and colored the image with Prisma pencil crayons. She then cut out the image with a Spellbinder Grand Labels Twenty Three then sponged Adirondack Aqua ink around the edge of the image. She cut out 2 more labels for mats. She made custom buttons using clear buttons, designer paper (My Minds Eye) and Glossy Accents. She added pink Fun Flock to the cake for extra cuteness! :) Thanks for stopping by!

Featuring Fun Flock

A friend and I managed to get together over the Easter weekend to have a "play date" and we decided to challenge ourselves to use Stampendous Fun Flock! Fun Flock is fluffy fibers that you can use to make images fluffy! It's pretty fun. The first card I decided to use it on was this adorable Gruffies stamp called Cake Walk.
I colored the bear and cake with my Prismacolor pencils then added Pixie Pink Fun Flock to the cake. Love how it turned out!
I cut out the bear and mounted him on a Spellbinder Reverse Wonky Rectangle. The sentiment is from a clear Hero Arts set and the embossing older (pink cardstock) is by Craft Concepts.
All products used on this card are currently in stock at Crafty Capers.
Thanks everyone for stopping by!

A fabulous birthday!

A close friend of mine had a birthday last week and I made her this card using one of the new Penny Black Hello Gorgeous stamp set. I stamped the gal on watercolor cardstock and colored her with my Tombow markers. I matted her as shown. I cut out 2 Spellbinder Picot circles (one blue and one yellow) and 2 smooth circles and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment. I stamped the martini and shaker stamps on a scrap of yellow cardstock and colored them with my Tombow markers. The pattern paper is by My Minds Eye. I added some Hero Arts gems to the front of the card and some Crystal and True Blue Stickles to glam it up even more! Because my friend is also a cardmaker I felt I should take the card up a notch so I did something I rarely do - I decorated the inside of the card! I stamped the gal in Cadilac on the inside of the card then I stamped her again on a scrap of YELLOW cardstock and cut out the car and glued it on top of the prestamped the car. For those who know me, you will know why I picked a yellow car. :) I stamped my Penny Black happy birthday sentiment to finish off the card. Hope everyone had a good long weekend!

Rainbow circles

This card came to me in a dream, ok not really but it did come to me in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping!
I began with a Hero Arts acetate card (clear) and I stamped a Hero Arts background (Dot Flower Background) stamp with my Versamagic Cloud White ink then I heat set it being careful to keep my heat gun moving so I did not melt my card. I then cut out a bunch of circles in rainbow colors. I used my Tombow Vellum adhesive runner to stick my circles to the inside of my card to highlight the white ink background. I added a blue "spine to my card that I had cut with a Spellbinder Edgeability insert die. I added a piece of white and black cardstock inside the card to write my message and added a Penny Black sentiment to finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone is having a good week and are looking forward to a looooong weekend!

Floral Frame

Just a quick and simple card for today. I stamped Hero Arts Large Flower Background on red cardstock with grey Versafine ink for a subtle background. I used Versafine onyx black ink to stamp one stamp from Hero Arts's set Floral Frames. I used my Laurentian pencil crayons (left over from high school!) to color the flowers. I stamped the Flourishes sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink. I added some Hero Arts gems to finish off the card. Quick and easy!
