Cards for Cancer fundraiser

Crafty Capers is having a Cards for Cancer fundraiser next weekend. Our classes are all sold out however we are still taking registration for class kits. Each class kit is $4.00 and all monies will be going to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
These card kits will be fairly simple you will need to provide your own adhesive, scissors and, in some cases, coloring materials and glitter but all the papers and embellishments will be cut and provided for you in your kit along with instructions. Deadline to register for these kits is tomorrow, Saturday Sept 28. Please contact the store if you are interested. There are 8 kits in total.
Saturday Oct 5 is coincidently, World Card Day it might be a fun to order some card kits, gather some friends have a mini party while making up your cards on that day!
Here is my "Saturday" Cards for Cancer card. Fairly simple, I used a new Wrapped in Joy Couture Creations embossing folder, a Stampendous clear sentiment, a Dee's tree die with Glitter Ritz plus some little Memory Box bird dies.
Special thanks goes to Sharron L for helping me out with this card as well as cutting out all the birds for the kits.

Coffee and a Card - Back to school style

I have been put in charge of the Crafty Capers Coffee and a Card for tomorrow I have given Kathy a rare Monday off to spend time with her sister.
I thought I would give the very popular chalkboard technique a try for the card tomorrow since most students and teachers seem to be back at it by now.
We will be using Brillance Moonlight White ink, white Gelatos and a white pencil crayon plus some, always fabulous, Penny Black stamps.
Coffee and a Card runs 10:30 am - 1:00 pm at Crafty Capers on Monday. Cost is $2.00 and if you can't get enough classes on Monday there is a Summer Stampscapes class as well in the afternoon beginning at 2 pm. Cost for that class is $25.50.
Hope to see you Monday!

Resist Demo today!

Not a great photo however this is another resist demo sample. This baby is STUNNING in real life lots of blues and purples with contrasting with the Silver Dollar embossing powder and the card was easy and quick to make another bonus.
The stamp is by Stampendous and I used Distress markers to make the background on Tim Holtz's new watercolor cardstock. I am also quite impressed with the watercolor cardstock easy to stamp on even with a detailed stamp. I will be getting myself another package.
Hope to see you at the demo today: Saturday Sept 14 10:30 - 12:30 and, as usual, its free!

A snowy day

I've been busy working on Christmas/Winter card samples with some of the new product that has been arriving recently. I have wanted to play with the new Memory Box Swirling Snowflakes die ever since it came in back in July and finally, I set some time aside to play with it.
I began by cutting the die out with Silver Mirrorcard. I needed the metal shim to cut it in my Big Shot but it cut out beautifully!!! Then I stamped the Stampendous Polar Ride stamp on Bazzill cardstock and colored it with my Tombow markers then cut the image out. I found a blue card base and cut a piece of Be Creative tape to fit the front of the card (4.25x5.5) and put it on the card front. I carefully laid down the snowflake die cut then I added Cool Highlight Glitter Ritz over the remaining exposed tape for a sparkly sky. I stamped the sentiment by Hero Arts on a leftover bit the same color as my main card (unglittered) and attached it as shown then I mounted my polar bears. Really happy with how this card turned out and happy I got to reuse an older Christmas stamp from a few years back.
Just a reminder that Crafty Capers will be having a Glitter Ritz free demo, tomorrow, Wednesday Sept 11 @1 pm. No need to preregister just drop in between 1 and 3 pm it is recommended you bring a notebook to jot down all the glitter tips and techniques.

Glitter Demo sample

I've got a (free) Glitter demo next Wednesday 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the store so I made some time to work on samples today. The tree is made from two Dee's Distinctively dies (Tree Silhouette and Tree Overlay #1) using the Burnished Velvet technique coincidently developed by Dee, herself and her friend Haroldine. I used Microfine Champagne and Ultrafine Emerald Glitter Ritz glitter and Be Creative tape to create the colors on the tree. The background is a stamp by Hero Arts (star also by Hero Arts) stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. The Joy is made with an alphabet by Memory Box and covered with more Ultrafine Emerald Glitter Ritz.
Special thanks to my "color consultant" for this card, Marilyn!
Hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy, Happy!

We changed out our window display last week the theme for this month is birthday with an orange and green color theme. We did not have a lot of cards with that color theme around the store so I made this guy to fill in a blank space in the display.
This card uses an Elizabeth Craft Peel Off (funky cakes), Glitter Ritz glitter (black, light copper, celedon & cayenne), Bazzill and Kaisercraft papers, a Leisure Craft embossing folder, Cheery Lynn birthday die, Spellbinder classic ovals dies, a Hero Arts "happy" stamp and finally a Sakura Quickie Glue pen to add some dots of glitter around the sentiment.
Stop by the store to see the new window display and see this card in person.
