New Hero Arts

Hero Arts Fresh Cut Tiny Triangles stamp
It has been a while since we received any new Hero Arts product however today changed that. We got a nice big box of goodies. Everything managed to get priced and on the shelves by the end of the day today. Just a reminder, Crafty Capers will be closed tomorrow for Canada day however we will be back open again on Wednesday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm so be sure to pop by to see the new stock in person!

Hero Arts What a Guy! stamp set

Oh how cute, the Lil Hoot stamp set! (sorry!)

Hello Sunshine stamp set

Hero Arts Snowflake die

A great little handmade stamp for all your projects!

Here is another sample from my demo on Saturday. I call this technique the watercolor technique because you stamp your image on watercolor paper with die ink then spray it with water to make the colors run a bit to give a soft look. I used my much used Stampendous agapanthus stamp for about the 1 millionth time! I used Distress Inks for the background and Mementolux for the sentiment (sentiment is by Penny Black). I matted the watercolor paper with some glitter paper and punched my butterfly out of the watercolor paper to show just a bit more of the glitter paper!
I am hoping now the shop painting is completed - yeah! I will have a bit more time to "play" stay tuned for more crafty projects!

The Crafty Capers had a free demo yesterday on backgrounds. I did a bunch of different techniques such as alcohol inks, watercolor, letter press, stamping with embossing folders and glitter however by far my favourite and the favourite of the participants was the shaving cream technique! I must confess that even though it is a 10+ year old technique it is one I had never done before however, that has changed! Soooo much fun! This red/orange background was one of the pieces I made during the demo.
I needed a card for my FIL for last night so I pulled one of my shaving cream pieces out of the pile and whipped up this card. Photo does not show all the detail because I was in a hurry as hubby was waiting for me to finish the card so we could get to the party!
The gear die is by Memory Box and I cut it out of black cardstock and added some Ranger Gold acrylic paint, Graphite Inkagold and Goose Bumps spray to it to add some interest. A bit of gold cord and I was done!
Thanks everyone for stopping by. Hope you are having a great Canada weekend!

I have brought in just a few sets to see how they sell (and to test drive them myself to see what I think). If they are popular they will become a regular Crafty Capers item so be sure to let us know what you think! A few renos!

We have been doing a few renos around the store lately to freshen the place up. We had a painting "party" last weekend around the store and thought I would share a few photos for those who have not stopped by recently, of course, just like all renos, it has taken longer than planned. Painting is still ongoing and I have O'Ryan Grey nails to prove it! Thanks to all my painting helpers and to Linda Kenick for the photos!
Old and new color side by side

Brown door is now history! Thanks Darcy!

There was a bit of a painting mishap on Friday but Marilyn cleaned up well!

All our lovely dies on the fresh clean grey wall. They seem to have doubled in quantity while they were in their temporary home.
