Tree Telescope Card

I thought I would try a telescope card for a little change of pace. I also pulled out a very old glitter technique called the stained glass technique. I put 2 tree Peel Off stickers on a piece of acetate and I applied my Art Institute clear drying glue to the back side of my acetate. I did not put glue on the entire area all at the same time. I applied glue to areas based on the color of Glitter Ritz I wanted to apply I put glue on the dark areas first then applied the glitter then I applied more glue and applied the next glitter color and so on. The colors I used were Ice Blue, Grasshopper, Cinnamon and Moss Green. I let the glue dry then cut out each tree. I mounted each tree onto circles of designer paper then solid colored cardstock. I used some Kaisercraft star brads to make "hinges" for each circle so when you pick up the card it telescopes out. I used a piece of May Arts red twine to act as a hanger.
Thanks everyone for stopping by.

Glittery Poinsettia

I had a heck of a time trying to get a half decent photo of this card I finally went for the looking up angle so the card looks giant! LOL I can assure you it is a regular 4.25 x 5.5 inch card.
Pretty straightforward card. I used a Poinsettia Peel Off that I stuck on acetate then I used my Art Institute clear drying glue on the back of the acetate then I added my Glitter Ritz colors: Fire Red, Yellow and Champaigne. I waited for the glue to dry then cut it out. I mounted the flower on a piece of Stardream white text weight paper that I embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder (Elegant Christmas set) then stamped a Hero Arts sentiment with Fired Brick Distress ink on a piece of white.
Deanna from In the Making (Glitter Ritz) arrives Saturday!! We still have a few spaces left in her classes check the website for details.

More glittery goodness!

Here is a card I made using the Burnished Velvet technique developed by Deanna Pannell and Haroldine Wingfield. I'm counting down the days until Deanna is here at the store. Should be a fun weekend!
The Glitter Ritz colored I used on this piece are microfine Bronze, Yellow and Liberty Blue. The butterfly masks were cut out using the new Spellbinder Les Papillions dies. The sentiment is by Hero Arts stamped with Cantelope Memento ink.

Celebrating Glitter!

In honor of Deanna Pannell from Glitter Ritz glitter coming to Crafty Capers this Saturday I thought I would post some glittery projects this week.
I love this card so much! I think I will actually make quite a few cards like this! All pattern paper is from Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet line. Gingie is a stamp from Hero Arts (stamped on some BoBunny gingerbread double dot cardstock). I cut out the gingerbread man then used my Art Institute Clear and White drying glue to add some glittery accents to him (white and fire red microfine Glitter Ritz). I used my Be Creative tape and Sweet Basil ultrafine Glitter Ritz glitter to add glittery mats to the pattern paper. The stamped sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Have a sparkly week!

Friday, September 21, 2012

I have not had much time for crafting recently due to the beginnings of Christmas rush not to mention the store's big Glitter Weekend next weekend. For those "out of the loop" Deanna Pannell from In the Making (Glitter Ritz, Dees Destinctive dies and Art Stamps) is coming to Crafty Capers! We have a couple of classes scheduled for next Saturday if you would like more information check out the Crafty Capers website.
I made this card a few weeks ago and found it on my phone and discovered I had not yet posted it yet! The card is pretty simple - 2 Memory Box dies Leaf Canopy & Swirly Tree. The grass is by Stampscapes and the sentiment is by Hero Arts. I hope to have another posting soon, fingers crossed!

Strawberry fields

I went and saw John Lennon's childhood home, Mendips, over the summer in Liverpool (highly recommend the tour and I am not a Beatles fan - however I could have skipped the sing along on the mini bus!) and saw the "strawberry fields" he wrote the song about, anyway I am getting off topic! This image reminded me of the song/tour.
This image is by House Mouse and I colored it with my Tombow markers on watercolor paper. The pattern paper is by BoBunny (Alora), solid cardstock is by Coredinations and Bazzill. Sentiment  and red embellishments are by Hero Arts. Crafty Capers is currently sold out of all House Mouse images however we should have a new batch of these cuties back in stock in the next few weeks.

and another Stampscapes

Here is yet another Stampscapes scene I created over the past few weeks. This one was super easy to create. I stamped all the images on watercolor cardstock with Archival jet black ink then I used my watercolor pencils to add the color then blended the colors with my waterbrush. VERY quick and easy! I added some Glossy Accents to the pond to give it a watery type look.
Stamps used (all by Stampscapes):
Cabin (140E), Pine Row (150E), Pond (279F)
Watercolor pencils by Lyra and Derwent
Embossing Folder Bird Song by Couture Creations
Cardstock by Bazzill, pattern paper by Basic Grey
Thanks for stopping by!

Another brayering background

Sheree (Vancouver Island Craft Junkie) left me a second piece of brayered glossy cardstock after her quick demo last week to play with so I created this Halloween card using Penny Black stamps and a few dies.
The card is pretty straight forward. I added an extra color on Sheree's brayered background an edge of black at the bottom to represent the ground. I colored with my Tombow markers on watercolor cardstock and cut out the cat and the bat. The happy halloween stamp is from the same Penny Black set as are all the faces on the bottom of the card.
All card supplies are available from Crafty Capers as usual.
Card Recipe:
Stamps: Penny Black Spooky clear set
Dies: Memory Box fence, Spellbinder Scallop Edgeabilities
Inks for brayering: Adirondack lemonade, sunshine yellow, terra cotta & mussel black
Inks for stamping: Memento Tuxedo Black & Adirondack Terra Cotta

Perfect Stampscapes

Created this Stampscapes scene using glossy cardstock and Perfect Pearls it is a different way to create a background.
I cut my glossy cardstock to size then mixed a few colors of Perfect Pearls with water to make a paint. I don't remember all the colors but do know I used gold, bronze, turquoise and yellow. Then I used my waterbrush and picked up the paints and slapped them onto the glossy cardstock. When the paint was dry I stamped my Stampscapes images onto the cardstock with Archival Jet Black ink.
Stampscapes stamps used:
Lakeside cabin, Oak Branch, Reeds, Duck Trio, Flock in water & Quacking Aspen. Sentiment by Hero Arts
Thanks everyone for stopping by!

A little sneak peak...

Brand new Spellbinder dies and Mbossability folders are on their way to Crafty Capers and should arrive this week! Woo hoo!
I managed to get a few of the new dies before they were released and got to work making a card right away! The black lacy frame is a new die set called Fancy Weave and the butterfly (solid and lacy) are from a set called Les Papillions. Both dies are quite intricate so I used waxed paper when I cut them. If you don't know the wax paper trick - take a piece of wax paper, like you use in the kitchen, and make your regular Cuttlebug, Big Shot or Grand Caliber sandwich but place the die on the wax paper then the cardstock then run the die through. If you can leave the wax paper in the die (some dies don't hold the wax paper and that is OK just use a new piece each time you cut. After a while the die may not need wax paper).
Hope everyone is having a great loooong weekend! Thanks to all those teachers out there who do not have a long weekend because they are setting up their classrooms! :)
Also, just a reminder today is a holiday so Crafty Capers is closed so no Coffee & a Card next week Sept 10 is the final week for Coffee and a Card for 2012.
Card Recipe:
Dies: Spellbinder Fancy Weave & Les Papillions (brand new!), Memory Box Gentle Leaf
Stamp: Tim Holtz
Paper: BoBunny (piece with the stamping on), Graphic 45 (green), Bazzill main card, frame, butterfly etc.
