During our trip to England we stayed with quite a few rellies so I was busy making thank you cards before we left so you will be seeing quite a few over the next little while.
This one I made 2 of so there is one for viewing at Crafty Capers at the moment the other one is now residing in Twickenham near London.
Easy peasy card - I embossed my main card with a Craft Concepts embossing folder. I stamped a Hero Arts thank you stamp with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink (love this color!). Then I used an Elizabeth Craft black peel off on Be Creative tape and Warm Highlight Glitter Ritz glitter. I colored the image with my Copic markers. I colored an extra tulip petal and popped it up with foam mounting tape for some extra dimension. Loved how simple this card is yet looks so elegant.
Thanks everyone for stopping by and hope everyone has a great weekend!

Glitter card & Coffee and a Card tomorrow!
I did a glitter demo over the weekend at the store and this tree was done with a technique with Sakura Glaze pens and glitter. I was so enthralled with this cute tree I decided to finish my coloring and make it into a card. The card was very quick to make as the tree is quite small so you can color it up quickly.
The tree is an Elizabeth Craft Design Peel Off sticker and as I previously said was colored with Sakura Glaze gel pens on top of Glitter Ritz Microfine Warm Highlight glitter. I cut the vanilla frame with my paper cutter and Spellbinder square dies. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and was stamped with Hero Art Regal Red ink (Love this color). For a bit of extra sparkle I used my new clear Wink of Stella brush pen on the word "holiday". Pattern paper is by Authentique.
Just a reminder we have a final Coffee and a Card make and take tomorrow (Monday) at Crafty Capers 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. Cost is $2 and/or a food donation. All monies and food will go to Nanaimo's Hamperville food bank. Please bring your basic class kit with you to class. I understand the demand for Christmas hampers is higher than ever this year so every little bit of money or food will help. Thank you in advance!

Happy, Happy!
We changed out our window display last week the theme for this month is birthday with an orange and green color theme. We did not have a lot of cards with that color theme around the store so I made this guy to fill in a blank space in the display.
This card uses an Elizabeth Craft Peel Off (funky cakes), Glitter Ritz glitter (black, light copper, celedon & cayenne), Bazzill and Kaisercraft papers, a Leisure Craft embossing folder, Cheery Lynn birthday die, Spellbinder classic ovals dies, a Hero Arts "happy" stamp and finally a Sakura Quickie Glue pen to add some dots of glitter around the sentiment.
Stop by the store to see the new window display and see this card in person.

My cup of tea
One final, Peel Off demo card. This teapot was colored with Tombow markers (062, 452, 925, 476 & N00) then cut out by hand. I matted it on a square Spellbinder die then onto a Spellbinder Lacy Square die. I threaded some May Arts ribbon through the lacy holes then matted everything as shown. The Happy Birthday sentiment is another Peel Off.

Peel Off sample
Thanks to everyone who made it to the Peel Off demo on Saturday. Hope you all learned lots I had fun showing you some of the Peel Off techniques out there.
Here is one of the samples I showed during the demo. I used the Elizabeth Craft Peel Offs as a mask on Be Creative tape along with Glitter Ritz glitter. The Happy Birthday sentiment is also an Elizabeth Craft Peel Off.
Cord is by May Arts.
Glitter Ritz colors used: Ocean Spray, Mystique (limited edition color), Merlot, Celadon, Ice Blue, Grasshopper, Fire Red and Liberty Blue.
Stop by Crafty Capers to see this sample in person, as with most sparkly samples, it looks better in person.
Oh and heads up, next free Saturday demo is Saturday May 11 10:30 - 12:30. The demo will be done by Cheryl and will feature Distress Stains. :)

I blame Joyce...
I had a customer (we'll call her Joyce B) who was mentioning that she was having loads of fun playing with the new Spellbinder 3D embossing folders with mirror paper and Vivadecor 3D stamp paint. I don't own any 3D stamp paint so THAT got me thinking that maybe a Ranger paint dauber would look cool.
I embossed the sea shell Spellbinder 3d embossing folder with some silver glossy cardstock then I used my gold paint dauber (love my paint daubers!!!) and swiped the paint over the raised areas. I tried my best to keep the large shell free of paint. I added a strip of Teresa Colins Far and Away map paper, a black Peel Off sticker, a fussy cut shell from another bit of silver cardstock and some May Arts Jute twine.
Pretty happy with how this turned out. Thanks Joyce (and Cathy C too!) for the inspiration!

Merry Monday Challenge
Lesley over at Always Playing with Paper has weekly "Merry Monday" challenges
to get people motivated on making Christmas cards each week so there is no last minute panic. Well I am having a last minute panic because I did not participate in enough of her challenges this year! Here are my entries for this week's sketch. Both are done with black Elizabeth Craft Design Peel Offs and both were colored on top of Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight with my Sakura Glaze pens and Copic markers. The tree card has some red Mirror cardstock behind the trees and a SRM sticker at the bottom of the card. I used my Sakura Glue Pen to add some Fire Red Glitter Ritz in each scallop of the card.

The poinsettia card is also Peel Off stickers. For this card I masked off a strip on my main cardstock and stippled Peeled Paint and Gathered Twig Distress ink then stamped my Hero Arts cling Holiday Background stamp also with Peeled Paint ink. I removed my mask then stamped my Hero Arts sentiment with Fired Brick Distress ink and added my ribbon and cut out poinsettias.
Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Loads of cards!
Just a quick heads up this year Crafty Capers will be having a "Crafty Corner" starting Tuesday until Christmas. We will have a small display of handmade/local gifts so if you are looking for a unique gift stop by the store beginning on Wednesday and check it out. You will be supporting a local crafter plus you won't have to fight the crowds at the malls!
I have a load of cards to make this week - 3 birthday and 1 anniversary plus one more class card then I really must get cracking on my Christmas cards!!! Yikes so much to do!
This card is for my inlaws 48th wedding anniversary. I looked up what the 48th anniversary is represented by hoping for inspiration however year 48 is represented by get this... optical devices!!! I quickly scratched that idea! REALLY who would want an optical device as a gift!!!
I decided to make Shimmer Sheets and one of the newly arrived Craft Concept embossing folders from the Thoughtful Collection. I ran the Shimmer Sheet through my Big Shot machine and the embossing folder. I then pulled out my Ranger Cranberry and Gold alcohol inks and daubed the entire piece. I trimmed the sheet to size and rounded two of the corners. I matted the Shimmer Sheet on a piece of Black cardstock then went to work on my sentiment. I do not own a Happy Anniversary stamp but found a black Peel Off in my stash. I applied the sticker to a piece of Be Creative tape that I had put on a scrap of cranberry cardstock then I poured some Glitter Ritz warm highlight glitter over the sticky tape. I rounded the corners on this piece as well. To finish off the card I stamped 2 Hero Arts stamps from the Untitled Hearts set with Versamark and Ranger Cranberry dye ink then heat embossed the pieces with clear ink and mounted them as shown.

Glittery Poinsettia
I had a heck of a time trying to get a half decent photo of this card I finally went for the looking up angle so the card looks giant! LOL I can assure you it is a regular 4.25 x 5.5 inch card.
Pretty straightforward card. I used a Poinsettia Peel Off that I stuck on acetate then I used my Art Institute clear drying glue on the back of the acetate then I added my Glitter Ritz colors: Fire Red, Yellow and Champaigne. I waited for the glue to dry then cut it out. I mounted the flower on a piece of Stardream white text weight paper that I embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder (Elegant Christmas set) then stamped a Hero Arts sentiment with Fired Brick Distress ink on a piece of white.
Deanna from In the Making (Glitter Ritz) arrives Saturday!! We still have a few spaces left in her classes check the website for details.

Peel Off card
More playing with leftover sticker bits - this time it is a hat Peel Off by Elizabeth Craft Design.
This is a pretty simple card. I put the hat sticker on a scrap of Graphic 45 paper then mounted it along with a hat stand and some Peel Off circle embellishments. The saying is from a Stampers Anonymous set by Tim Holtz.
The blue green paper is leftover from my Hero Arts contest submission a week or so back.

Pink Monocromatic
I had to do a thank you card for a friend who sent me a present recently. Here is the card I created for her.
I began by using a Els Flower Peel Off, Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight glitter, Be Creative tape and Copic markers. I colored the flower with some Copic markers. Once this was done I used my Spellbinder Labels 1 to create a mat and frame. I matted the flower with some BoBunny Double Dot cardstock and pattern paper. I used some ribbon to create a fluffy bow and added a Just Rite sentiment plus some white Enamel Accents.
Pretty happy with how this one turned out!

One final flock card
One final Fun Flock card for you to finish off the week. I decided to make my own flocked background paper for this card. I began by stamping my Hero Arts Large Fabric background with Versafine Onyx Black ink then I poured Stampendous Stamp N Bond embossing powder over the image. When you heat this embossing powder it turns sticky I applied Black Fun flock over the entire background for an elegant background paper.
I stamped my gal (from the Penny Black Hello Gorgeous clear set) and colored her with my Prisma pencils. I added Chili Pepper Red Fun Flock to her collar and purse. I finished the card by using a Peel Off sticker for my sentiment, some ribbon and pearls.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Coloring on Glitter
Just a reminder the Crafty Capers Hero Arts 2012 Debut party is tomorrow! The party lasts all day however we will have a $2.00 card make and take tomorrow between 10:30 - 2:00 if you would like to participate please bring your adhesive and scissors with you. We will also have the new 2012 Hero Arts catalogue for you to view, new stamps and tasty treats! To make the party even better ALL Hero Arts products will be on sale 15% off tomorrow only! Whoo Hoo. For a sneak peak of some of the new stamps Hero Arts is having a blog hop tonight. I've just finished all the hopping and am feeling a bit cross eyed but there lots of great cards done with the new stamps!
My card tonight has nothing to do with Hero Arts but thought I would post it anyway. :) It's fairly simple but I am really happy with how it turned out. I began with a Peel Off sticker (black) which I put on a piece of Be Creative tape along with some Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight glitter then I colored on top of the glitter with my Sakura Glaze pens. I waited to make sure the Glaze pens had dried before I cut out the dove image. I learned that hard way that Glaze pens take a few minutes to dry on glitter when I smudged the red holly berries on another dove and ended up having to color the entire dove pink to correct my mistake! Everyone who saw it assured me no one would notice the smudge however I have never seen a pink dove in my life so that might be a bit of a giveaway or people will just assume I was drunk while coloring! I matted my doves with Kaisercraft designer paper "silly season". I embellished the designer paper with some of the black dots and border from the sheet of dove stickers. I added Glossy Accents to the holly part of the dove for some extra interest.
Thanks for stopping by and perhaps see some of you tomorrow at the party!

One final Peel Off card...
for this week at least. I started coloring this image with my Tombow markers during the demo last weekend but never finished because I didn't think people needed to watch THAT much coloring in one sitting. I mean it's kind of like watching paint drying! :)
Anyway, after the demo, I finished up the coloring and cut it out. I figured I should not be wasteful so made it into a simple card. Perhaps this card will make it to my 90+ Great Aunt in Port Alberni. Her eyesight is not great but the big image and bright colors will probably make her day!
I used my Tombow glue pen to add a little but of sparkle in the form of Glitter Ritz Moss Green glitter. Then sentiment is by Hero Arts and the swirly leaf behind the flower is a die cut by Sizzix (Leafy vine, if memory serves me).

Pretty Butterfly!
Yet another Peel Off sticker card from last week. I really love how this one turned out.
I used 2 butterflies that were the same. Stuck one on a circle of vellum and colored the back side of the image with my Tombow Markers then I stuck another butterfly sticker on a piece of acetate and cut it out. I used a piece of Be Creative tape to attache the acetate butterfly exactly on top of the colored one however I only applied the tape to the body of the butterfly so the wings could be bent up. I hid the tape by using my Tombow Glue pen on the acetate butterfly body and a little Kiwi Glitter Ritz glitter. I also added some dots near the butterly with my glue pen and the same Kiwi Glitter Ritz glitter.
The sentiment and embellishments are by Hero Arts.

Peel Off Sample 2
Here is sample #2 from the Peel Off sticker demo from last week.
This one is pretty simple. I used the "leftover" sticker parts and a piece of transfer tape to move the stickers to my piece of yellow Bazzill Cardstock. The middle butterfly is simply the outline of one the butterflies on the same sheet.
Cardstock is by Bazzill and the dotted paper is from My Mind's Eye. Pearl Embellishments by Hero Arts.

Peel Off Demo samples
Thank you to everyone who stopped by for the Peel Off sticker demo on Saturday. As promised I will be posting the samples on the blog this week. We are fairly picked over on stickers at the moment but we will have a nice big batch arriving as soon as the mail strike is sorted out.
This sample was done with an Elizabeth Craft Peel Off sticker with Be Creative tape sheet, acetate and Glitter Ritz glitter. The Glitter Ritz colors used are Mystique Blue (one of the new limited edition colors from the Mardi Gras collection), Yellow, Light Copper, Kiwi and Liberty Blue.
I made this sample into a mini box for something a little different.
