This seems wrong but...

I've started my Christmas cards!! Waaaay back in December when I was cursing myself for leaving my 2010 cards to the last minute I made a vow, in front of witnesses of course, that I would be making 10 cards each month all year long then I would be all organized for December this year. You would think I would learn not to make these vows in front of people. Kind of like that time I vowed I would shave my head if people raised $500 for cancer (thankfully the people I know are cheap so that one never happened!!!) Anyway... a witness came in late January and asked me how the Christmas cards were coming along and I had to sheepishly admit I had not made a one! (thanks for that Joyce H)! 5 months later I have started my Christmas cards! I think I was just saving up all my creative mojo so my cards would be extra great or that is the story I am sticking to! lol Both these cards were made with a Bosscuts Poinsettia die which will go through your Cuttlebug machine the recipe is Plates A, B, C you will probably need to run it back and forth a few times to get a good cut or at least that is what I had to do. Both flowers had 2 pieces of red cardstock run through so that I had lots of flowers to layer for a nice full flower. I was not too worried about having all the same red cardstock the green card has 2 definitely different shades of red in it's flower the other one has 2 as well. I was mainly concerned with getting rid of some small scraps of red cardstock I had. The sentiments for both cards are by Hero Arts stamped with Ranger's Adirondack Pesto ink (dye). I used some Be Creative tape to cut out a frame using the Spellbinder Labels 14 die (for the white card) then I applied the frame and used my Fire Red Glitter Ritz glitter LOVE how that turned out  then applied my poinsettia to the bottom of the frame and embellished with Golden Rod Stickles glitter glue. Once my white card was done I was left with the middle of my frame cut out of tape so being the thrifty gal I am I decided to stamp a sentiment on my green card and lay the tape over top of the sentiment then add some Glitter Ritz Cool Highlight because the Highlight glitters are clear but sparkly the sentiment showed through no problem. I added my poinsettia to this card then embellished with some Hero Arts Foliage Gems and Pearls. Currently, all supplies used for these cards are in stock at Crafty Capers except the Pesto ink.

Butterfly Easel Card

While I was demoing last weekend someone brought in a super cute, but teeny, butterfly easel card! I just purchased the Sizzix Big Shot die Butterfly Album die and was super excited to try my hand at making a larger butterfly easel card. I love how this turned out! It took a bit of thinking but it was not too hard to do! I even got to give my newish Big Shot Pro a try as well to run the die through. I used Lavender, Kiwi and Champagne Glitter Ritz to make a smaller sparkly butterfly as an embellishment. I used the swirls on the same die to keep the cover of the card standing these swirls were also covered in glitter. I used my Big Scalloped Rectangles to add a tag with my sentiment. I wanted to add a bit more jazz to the butterfly cover so used my Tombow White gel pen.

One final Peel Off card...

for this week at least. I started coloring this image with my Tombow markers during the demo last weekend but never finished because I didn't think people needed to watch THAT much coloring in one sitting. I mean it's kind of like watching paint drying! :)
Anyway, after the demo, I finished up the coloring and cut it out. I figured I should not be wasteful so made it into a simple card. Perhaps this card will make it to my 90+ Great Aunt in Port Alberni. Her eyesight is not great but the big image and bright colors will probably make her day!
I used my Tombow glue pen to add a little but of sparkle in the form of Glitter Ritz Moss Green glitter. Then sentiment is by Hero Arts and the swirly leaf behind the flower is a die cut by Sizzix (Leafy vine, if memory serves me).

Pretty Butterfly!

Yet another Peel Off sticker card from last week. I really love how this one turned out.
I used 2 butterflies that were the same. Stuck one on a circle of vellum and colored the back side of the image with my Tombow Markers then I stuck another butterfly sticker on a piece of acetate and cut it out. I used a piece of Be Creative tape to attache the acetate butterfly exactly on top of the colored one however I only applied the tape to the body of the butterfly so the wings could be bent up. I hid the tape by using my Tombow Glue pen on the acetate butterfly body and a little Kiwi Glitter Ritz glitter. I also added some dots near the butterly with my glue pen and the same Kiwi Glitter Ritz glitter.
The sentiment and embellishments are by Hero Arts.

Peel Off Sample 2

Here is sample #2 from the Peel Off sticker demo from last week.
This one is pretty simple. I used the "leftover" sticker parts and a piece of transfer tape to move the stickers to my piece of yellow Bazzill Cardstock. The middle butterfly is simply the outline of one the butterflies on the same sheet.
Cardstock is by Bazzill and the dotted paper is from My Mind's Eye. Pearl Embellishments by Hero Arts.

Peel Off Demo samples

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for the Peel Off sticker demo on Saturday. As promised I will be posting the samples on the blog this week. We are fairly picked over on stickers at the moment but we will have a nice big batch arriving as soon as the mail strike is sorted out.
This sample was done with an Elizabeth Craft Peel Off sticker with Be Creative tape sheet, acetate and Glitter Ritz glitter. The Glitter Ritz colors used are Mystique Blue (one of the new limited edition colors from the Mardi Gras collection), Yellow, Light Copper, Kiwi and Liberty Blue.
I made this sample into a mini box for something a little different.

Peel Off Demo Saturday

I am really loving making "criss cross" cards right now so easy and different! This is one I came up with today for the free Peel Off demo on Saturday (10:30 - 12:30) at Crafty Capers.
I'm not going to go into much detail about how the card was made but the flowers were colored with Tombow markers and embellished with Glitter Ritz glitter. The designer paper is My Mind's Eye.
