Bonus Glitter card

I was supposed to be making a get well soon card for my 99 year Great Uncle Bob who is recovering from getting a pacemaker put in, yeah, well I'm pretty sure THIS card is not going to cut it! ;) Bob's wife, Jerry may end up getting it.
I had someone come in this week and ask for clarification on the glitter and tape over pattern paper technique so I made up this bird in the oval panel while showing her. I decided to make it into a card instead of trashing it.
The bird panel had Be Creative tape put on it then I carefully added Glitter Ritz cool highlight glitter just to the bird oval. I left the rest sticky. I quickly flipped the panel over to remove the extra glitter then I changed things up a bit and added some Be Creative sugar beads to the rest of the panel. I tried to get a photo of this but the texture and glitter differences are best seen in real life.

I finished up the card as shown using the Sizzix bird cage die, Kaisercraft pearls and rhinestones and Bobunny flowers. The pattern papers are all by BoBunny from the Madeleine collection. I love these papers! Hope the week has started well for everyone. Thanks for stopping by.

Going batty!

Hope you have enjoyed Glitter Ritz week and perhaps some of these posts have inspired you to get out your Glitter Ritz and maybe pick up a few more colors, you can never have enough you know. I am still finding glitter on my face and it has been a week since I finished these cards! Oh well always ready for a party!
This card is my favourite and not just because I am sooooo loving Halloween this year. This card was, again, done with the burnished velvet technique and a Memory Box die called Harvest Moon. Microfine Glitter Ritz colors used: real teal, black, pumpkin spice and yellow.
Once I was finished the panel I cut out some bats (Memory Box bunch of bats die) with white cardstock and Be Creative tape and put black glitter on them as well. I finished up the card by cutting a Memory Box Picket Fence die and added a sentiment sticker from Authentique.
Thank you to every who stopped by the blog this week. If you are in the Nanaimo (BC) area stop by to see all these cards and more in person.

Twas the night before Christmas

Another quick card today featuring glitter! I used the new Graphic 45 Twas the Night before Christmas papers and stickers for this card. I took the Santa sticker and put some Be Creative tape over the top and some Glitter Ritz warm highlight over top to give it a bit more jazz. Layered everything up as shown and added a bit of May Arts ribbon and voila done!
Just a reminder if you have a Crafty Capers secret envelope NOW is the time to redeem them. The final day to bring them in is Wednesday Oct 1.

My leaping deer

This leaping deer stamp by Penny Black has been a favourite of mine for years. I think I have had it for 10 or 11 years and cannot bear to part with it I absolutely love it! I figure enough time has gone by that I can reuse on my cards this year without anyone noticing. This image was glittered using Stampendous' Stamp and Bond embossing powder, Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle and Glitter Ritz (microfine) Champagne glitter. You may have noticed that I seem to be using the Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle ink for lots of stamping this week the primary reason for that is a nice gold color that matches Glitter Ritz Champagne glitter very well and also it was on my desk and I was a bit rushed last week and did not want to take the time to root through my inks for another color! I will give you a couple of quick tips on using Stamp and Bond power - 1. use an ink color similar to your glitter color so if some of the glitter does not stick you are not missing any noticable parts of your image and 2. don't overcook your powder - once it turns clear it is done - stop! (really, stop!). I hand cut out the deer however Penny Black has released a leaping deer die I have the die on order and I am first in line for it when it arrives at the store! I finished up this card with a Darice snowflake fram embossing folder, May Arts ribbon and some Quickie Glue pen and more Champagne glitter around the edge of the card. I have given you a close up of the deer so you can see all it's sparkly goodness! Happy Friday everyone!

Classy and Elegant

(also quick and dirty!). This card is super easy but looks like a million dollars!
I began with a white cardstock panel and cut out the Memory Box Dazzling Snowflake die (it cuts out holes in the shape of a snowflake not an actual snowflake) then I put a big piece of Be Creative tape on the back side of the die cut. I added Gliter Ritz (Microfine) Champagne glitter to the tape through the holes of the white cut out.
I added 5mm strips of Be Creative tape to the top and bottom of the white cardstock on the good side then added champagne glitter to those as well.
I mounted the glittery cardstock to my main cardstock leaving a space at the bottom for my Hero Arts sentiment stamped with Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle ink.
I cut a bunch of these out during my demo so managed to get quite a few Christmas cards started - yeah me! :)

Glitter Ritz Day 2!

Happy Tuesday everyone. Hope your week has started off well.
Today I am showing off another card I made during last weekend's Glitter Ritz demo. The ornament has been done in glitter using the burnished velvet technique. I used 2 Memory Box dies Traditional Ornament and the, brand new, Holly Bouquet die. I used the Glitter Ritz colors: moss green, merlot, regal red (ultra fine, the other colors are microfine) and champagne. The pine die is the new Memory Box Forest Pine Branch. The designer paper is from Teresa Collins' Tinsel and Co line. The sentiment is by Penny Black, ribbon by May Arts. Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for another sample.

Oh my so busy around the store. We received 3 orders yesterday so that really kept us hopping. Thank you to everyone who stopped by from out of town and the local gals as well. It seems the opening of the new Nanaimo Cabela's store has produced unexpected sales results for me. Couples are driving into Nanaimo from out of town and while the husband is in Cabelas the wife stops by Crafty Capers. Seems like a win/win to me!

Mr & Mrs!

I am off to a wedding today. I have not been to a wedding in about 10 years so this is a big event especially considering it is "western" themed and I have nothing western in my closet and it caused quite a bit of debate among my friends about what was suitable and what was not (I think a dress and cowboy boots is cute - however I was told in no uncertain terms it was NOT for my age!). I did manage to borrow some cute pink cowboy boots for the occasion so did not have to buy any since I am sure I would never wear them again.
Here is the card I made for the couple. The color is quite off it is not as yellow as it appears in this photo. The pattern paper is from the Authentique Faith collection. If you look closely I stamped the bride and groom's names on my background paper. The other bits and pieces are from my stash. The congratulations stamp is by Hero Arts. Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Sympathy

I have had to do some sympathy cards this summer (hate doing these ones) however took the time to play with my seldom used Distress Paints to make a background. I used Tim Holtz watercolor paper for the flower panel and put Mowed Lawn, Scattered straw and Tumbled Glass on my craft sheet then sprayed them with water. I dragged the paper through the watery paint until I was happy with the results. Then I decided I was not happy with the results so I took a Memory Box damask stencil and stenciled some designs on the background! LOL
I stamped the flower image by Penny Black and colored it with Prisma pencils. The sentiment, from Impression Obsession, was heat embossed on a strip of vellum. I made another Distress Paint background on my main cardstock and used a TCW Art Is stencil for that background. Thanks everyone for stopping by and here is hoping I don't have to make any more sympathy cards for a good long while.
