I made this card a few weeks back and just realized it never got posted to the blog. It has been a strange/busy couple of weeks.
I originally had plans to use this card in a May Flowers class but have not had time to make any more class samples and May is rapidly coming to an end.
I am really happy with how this card turned out and it was fairly quick to do as well (always a bonus). I fussy cut out the flowers from a Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue paper. I made a black frame with my Spellbinder Labels 1 die then arranged the flowers to my liking. I stamped the Dylusions sentiment (change for no one and believe in who you are) then embossed the white panel with a Couture Creations embossing folder (the name escapes me at the moment) then matted everything as shown. If you have not checked out the Dylusions sentiment stamps at the store you really should they are way to funny! They make me laugh every time!

Cards for Cancer photos
At long last I have found a few moments to post of long over due photos from Crafty Capers Cards for Cancer fundraiser back at the end of April. I also, finally, have a fundraising total. Before I give the magic number I want to thank everyone who volunteered their time for this great event and also thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this event.
Now the final fundraising total.... is $717.30! That is over $100 more than the event in November 2012! Thank you everyone! All monies raised is going to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
We have plans to hold another Cards for Cancer event in October or November so keep an eye on the Crafty Capers website or this blog!
Now here are some photos from the event! These are just quick photos I snapped in between classes. Lolly was also taking photos and she has kindly scrapbooked them and they are on display at the store (isn't SHE the organized one) LOL

New Dies - Oh so fun!
When I was shopping at one of my supplier last week I happened upon a new line of dies by Sizzix called "Susan's Garden". I was quite excited to see these dies because back about 7 or 8 years ago I used to make flowers like these using punches, and while very cool, were a bit of a pain to make with all the punching etc not to mention all the hand strain! Sizzix has come out with these same shapes but in a die format and in many cases you can cut out many of the shapes at the same time because they are all on the same plate! Genius!
This card is the card I made for my Mom for Mothers Day and I happy with how it turned out - simple but nice!
The daisies are from the "mini daisies" die set and I colored each petal with Inkagold gold metallic paint for some extra interest. Oval die cut is from the Spellbinder Classic Ovals, the dragonfly is by Memory Box. Sentiment by Flourishes. Pattern paper DCWV and Kaisercraft. I used Crystal Stickles on the dragonfly wings and some Yellow Liquid Pearls in the daisy centers.
The June Saturday demo at Crafty Capers (June 8 10:30 - 12:30) will be featuring these new dies and how to use them. Stay tuned for more samples in the coming weeks.

Well today was a day I would rather not repeat! I was expecting a busy day what with the big Memory Box/Spellbinder order to sort out, plus Allison was changing up the store window this morning THEN I discovered the store's landline was down which meant our point of sale machine did not work! Yikes! So thanks to everyone who stopped by for their understanding! Here is hoping the phone is up and running early tomorrow!

Playing with Inkagold
I have bought a few colors of Vivadecor Inkagold metallic paste over the past month or so but have not really done anything with them so thought I would sit down and do some experimenting. Some experiments turned out well, some not so much! LOL Inkagold seems like a fun new product and I hope I have more time to do some experimenting soon.
I used my Tombow markers (green) and Violet Inkagold and Gold Inkagold to watercolor my Stampendous Violets image on watercolor paper with my waterbrush. I fussy cut out the image. I embossed a piece of white cardstock with my Tim Holtz brick folder then used my finger to rub Haematite Inkagold over the embossed areas. I matted the pieces as shown and I finished off the card with some violet satin ribbon and a white pearl.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Thanks everyone for stopping by!

House Mouse New Arrivals!
2 batches of new stamps arrived to keep me on my toes! First box we opened was House Mouse! I want to let everyone know that as of April 15 Stampabilities are no longer making rubber stamps including House Mouse so that means, for the moment at least, no new House Mouse stamps will be arriving at Crafty Capers (or any store for that matter). Here is hoping there is a new manufacturer found before Christmas card time!
Here are some of the designs in stock now.
