Moments

Here is another card from my stenciling demo last weekend. The white flowered panel was done with a Crafters Workship stencil, Dreamweaver white stencil paste and Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight glitter. The sentiment is by Penny Black stamped with Adirondack Red Pepper die ink and the ladybugs are a die by Memory Box. The color is a bit wonky in this photo but quite happy with how this card turned out.

Happiest Place on Earth

I don't think it is any secret that I was in Disneyland a few weeks ago. We had an amazing time and when I got home I had this layout in my head. Now, scrapbooking is not something I regularly do, honestly, how many layouts of my cat does one person want to see, even if he is very handsome?
This layout came together pretty quick. I started with a lightly patterned piece of Echo Park paper (Park Bench line). I stenciled a Hero Arts flower stencil across the page with some Memento Angel Pink ink then stamped a Hero Arts friendship background stamp and embossed it with Ivory embossing powder along the left hand side of the page. I used some glimmer gel medium from Imagine Crafts to lay down my Park Hopper Disney ticket as well as a store receipt from Disneyland then I layered my photo and second ticket as shown. I cut a Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die and added a button center (purchased from Disneyland) that says "to all who come to this happy place, welcome. Walt Disney" I finished off the layout with a bunch of Hero Arts flowers and gems.
I have a busy week ahead as Crafty Capers is having an open house Saturday Feb 1. Stop by to see some of our CHA make and takes, and class samples. We will also have our spring class schedule out and if we are lucky, perhaps, some of the CHA product we ordered will have arrived as well! Oh, and I forgot 2 $2.00 make and takes using some new stamps we ordered at the show (please bring your basic class kit).
Hope everyone has a great week!

Here is a cool new tool from Spellbinder for getting all those little bits out of the die! All I can say is what took them so long?

CHA day 4

Not sure what booth this is from but a cute card
Well CHA is over and I got all my orders placed. Watch the blog for updates on when the product starts arriving. LOTS should be arriving in February but we have some items shipping in the next few days. Here are a few photos of neat projects we saw.

A cool altered art project from Canvas Corp. We took a few classes from these gals and they were great!

A Ranger sample

These flowers were everywhere. The photo does not do it justice.

CHA day 3

Little B paper tape display in their booth
Another busy day. Linda and I did an early morning class doing a printers tray album then it was off to do more shopping. There is only 1 more day of CHA and I still have quite a few orders to place. We have placed a few orders with new companies and lots of orders with old ones too.
Oh my look at the cuties we ran into at the Stampendous booth!

Linda in our printers tray class. She looks pretty perky for 8 am!

Doing our first ever order at SEI.

This was some sort of arm knitting class. It was quite a funny sight with all the yarn all over the floor. Linda took this photo laying on the floor (with her butt in the air) some woman noticed her and thought she had fallen but did not offer to help her up! Lori and I just pretended we did not know her!

A super cute baby display at the Prima booth

We got to play with one of the top 20 new products at CHA - Chameleon makers. It was a demo I will never forget because Michael could not work his stapler. He managed to shoot the staples out of the machine nearly hitting us! Then tried to fix it by putting in new staples that did not work either turns out he had put the staples in backwards!
1 more day of sneak peeks on the blog but don't forget to check out the Crafty Capers Rubber Stamp Facebook page for more sneak peaks and a chance at our contest!

CHA Day 2

Here is a cool mixed media Gelatos canvas
No real theme for the day yesterday. I am starting to panic that we won't get to all the booths in time but Linda assures me if we stick to our plan, walk AND talk at the same time (what the ?? who does that??) and  if Lori and I don't get distracted by any more shiny things we will be A-OK. We shall see how well that goes! Here are just a few samples I snapped from various booths. Don't forget to like Crafty Capers Rubber Stamps on Facebook and comment on the other photos I am posting (lots of new products).

Spellbinder samples. I saw quite a few anchor type projects in different booths

Ooooh, my beloved Penny Black! They had lots of great samples

For those of you thinking we have just been lounging by the pool, here is a photo of Linda and I taken after 9 pm studying up on Impression Obsession.

Another Faber Castell mixed media project done with Gelatos

CHA day 1

Well today was the official opening day of CHA. I started out the show by getting a blister on my heel before I had even finished walking to the show! Grr!
It was quite a busy day however I would say the overwhelming theme of the day was Graphic 45. We spent quite a bit of time doing a make and take and then doing a BIG order for new stuff and a bit of older stuff too!
A bunch of people waiting for the doors to open.

working on a Graphic 45 order

A couple of Graphic 45 samples

More Graphic 45 samples
More Graphic 45 Couture, this time.

If anyone is looking for a new Kitchen Aid...

This one is for my knitting friends. Easter Island all knitted they were probably 8 feet tall!
Well that was my day, did not see nearly as many booths as I had expected but I did have a lunch meeting plus 2 classes so I guess I was not wasting time! Until tomorrow!

CHA Friday Recap

Well Friday was education day at CHA (show opens today at 9:30). Our day was jammed packed with classes. My day started with an excellent retailer seminar by Bob Negen from Whizbang Training. Not too exciting from my blog readers but I think his seminar will help me bring lots of positive changes to the store.
Here I am at the Graphic 45 class
Then it was off to a Graphic 45 class, this too was excellent. This was definitely the best project themed class of the day. A very cool project that Linda and I have plans to teach soon at Crafty Capers. We took a couple of other classes I did not get photos at then it was off to the Hot New Products seminar where we saw Tim Holtz's new Distress Ink Spritzer, Chameleon markers (Lori rolled her eyes when I said I was excited about markers then admitted they looked pretty cool), Little B Perfect Positioner and the Spellbinder's new Tool-n-One.

A quick snap of the Graphic 45 project

Here I am with 2 of the Graphic 45 instructors!

Tim Holtz showing us how to use his new Distress Marker Spritzer. *Note Budweiser makes crafting just a bit better!

A new company to us Little B. They have some interesting dies and a new die placement system.

Here we all are at the CHA block party!
Thanks for sticking with me so far. Just wanted to let everyone know about a new Crafty Capers Rubber Stamps Facebook contest. Head over to Facebook, like our page then start commenting on some of the new products we are posting. We want to know what YOU think about the new stuff. A random commenter will win a free basket of goodies. Winner will be determined on Jan 18. Good luck!

While the boss is away...

Beginning Friday Jan 10 all in stock dies are 20% off at Crafty Capers! Sale ends Monday Jan 13. This sale does not apply to any dies currently on hold!
This deal even applies to the brand new January Memory Box release! Hurry in for best selection. :)

Made it to Anaheim

Well we made it to Anaheim with very little drama (our flight left Vancouver at 8 am so that made for a very early start). We even ran into our friend Deanna from In the Making (Glitter Ritz & Dee's Distinctive Dies) in the Vancouver airport then met 2 gals from Kentucky also attending the convention oh the hotel shuttle. This photo was snapped by Louise from the Prima Design team. She did not want her photo taken as she had just gotten off a long flight from Australia. We picked up our tickets for our classes etc but the doors to the show floor were firmly closed so we could not sneak a peek of what was inside. Tomorrow is a long day of classes then Saturday the actual CHA show begins. Keep watching this blog for further updates!

New Year, new project!

I am headed out to CHA in Anaheim tonight but have a couple of minutes to get this project I made last week up on the blog! This card is a gate fold card an is on the fancy side so it will go to someone special! I used Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiments paper and chipboard tags for the majority of the project with some May Arts twine, Glossy Accents, Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and a Hero Arts stamp thrown in for good measure. The first photo is the front and the next 3 photos are close ups of the inside. If you have any questions feel free to contact me!

The inside of the card opened
I am hoping to get some blogging done while down in California, so keep your fingers crossed I have decent internet at my hotel and all those workout I have been doing recently help with my stamina! CHA is loads of fun but VERY tiring. I have 12+ hours of activities planned for Friday then I am supposed to be going the the CHA block party after that! Oh and the convention does not even begin officially until Saturday. Wish me luck! :)
